Last Thursday night, I took a trip to street break RC drift in Clearwater, Florida to do some testing, video, and shoot some photos at this awesome facility.
I tested a couple of different items from DS Racing, but for this post I’m going to focus on just the sloped and flat Aero Drift Wheel covers on DS Racing drift element wheels.
First, I’ll start with looks, and like I have talked about before, this of course is a personal preference. I went with the black mesh wheels with fluorescent yellow Aero covers.
Performance can be debated in a couple of ways. Weight, yes, the three/four piece wheel is a little bit on the heavy side, but for a side note to this, the flexibility to adjust the offset is nice as I ended up 6mm on the front and 8mm on the rear. Being out of round is possible if time is not taken when putting these wheels together. After gluing the rings properly and not over tightening screws, I didn’t see a problem with the wheels I tested.
For me, I really liked the look of these covers as they looked great with my EZ customs painted body and the performance was good. Items like this make drifting what it is: ways for you to create your own style and look.
Here is a video of the wheels and covers in action.
